Hope More

Do you ever feel alone and invisible? Crazy question, right? Of course, we’ve all experienced some moment when we felt no one saw us, understood us or cared about us. It’s a painful thing to have people around you but feel that they are not connected or concerned about your deep, innermost longings. Sometimes, you just want a heart to help you bear your burdens, that understands that though may look like you’re winning at life, you feel like a big, fat loser! These are the times that we may feel the weight of hopelessness on our shoulders.
Hope is not always an easy and simple task. Sometimes hope can be the farthest thing from our grasp. We reach out to hope but so many other emotions and preoccupations obstruct our view of it, further exacerbating our overwhelmed minds and spirits. It is in our nature to reach for a solution rather than hoping in Jesus Christ. When I am overwhelmed by depression, sickness or life in general, I tend to feel helpless and weak, desperate even. I literally do not have an ounce of energy and I am spent. It takes me to getting to my lowest point of a situation to remember, His strength is made perfect in my weakness! I stop, I pray and I meditate on the word of God and suddenly I feel peace and I feel strengthened. Then I tell myself to always hope in Christ and not in my abilities. Now I fail at this because I’m a doer, a fixer but mostly I make messes! But by God’s grace and patience I am learning to look to him more than I try to fix myself and the world around me on my own. He is God Alone.
Let us pray:
Jesus,
We come to you as children, innocent, vulnerable and without pretense. Help us to seek you first in our daily lives. You are the only place in which we can hope and find joy.
In Jesus’ Name! Amen!
